Background

The objective of the project was to offer Orange Spain customers a new outlet store for mobile devices, combining attractive pricing with an initiative aligned with sustainability and circular economy principles.

To accelerate the launch, Orange developed the service together with Mobilepoint, which would manage the channel end to end — inventory, orders, deliveries, returns, support, and warranty — while the store itself had to operate under the Orange brand and meet its customer experience requirements.

Overview

ASPA implemented the new store using Hybris Telco Accelerator, now SAP Commerce, making extensive use of the platform’s standard functionality to reduce development time and project risk.

The solution covered catalog management, content, promotions, customer accounts, cart, checkout, orders, and returns. ASPA was also responsible for the design and front-end development, adapting the visual experience to the Orange brand.

Goals

The primary objective was to launch a new sales channel within an exceptionally short timeframe, avoiding a lengthy custom development project.

The solution needed to provide all the functionality required for a B2C mobile device store, preserve the Orange brand experience, and remain ready to evolve with additional features and integrations at a later stage.

Challenge

The main challenge was time. A fully operational store had to be delivered in less than three months, an extremely demanding timeframe even for a solution with a relatively focused scope.

Achieving this required a clearly defined MVP and extensive use of the standard functionality provided by SAP Commerce Telco Accelerator, limiting unnecessary custom development and prioritizing catalog, shopping experience, commercial operations, and go-live readiness.

Strategic Transformation

The project enabled Orange to launch a new digital channel quickly, without being constrained by the usual evolution cycles of large corporate platforms.

Using a standard solution made it possible to combine speed of implementation with future scalability. The platform was ready to incorporate more advanced capabilities over time, including in-store pickup, promotions, bundles, subscriptions, CRM integration, and distributed inventory management.

Results

The new store went live in just 10 weeks, meeting the objective of launching in under three months.

Orange gained a fully operational eCommerce channel aligned with its brand, while Mobilepoint was able to manage this channel, handling the end-to-end sale and operation of refurbished devices and surplus inventory on a modern platform designed to scale.

Long-term Value

The project demonstrated that a well-selected and properly implemented standard platform can significantly reduce the time to market for new digital initiatives.

For ASPA, it was also a major milestone: our first Hybris project — now SAP Commerce — and the first production implementation of this technology in Spain, laying the foundation for a SAP Commerce practice that would later become one of our core areas of expertise.
